Back to Basics

Hey guys,  I know building your wardrobe can be tricky; so I thought to write a post to give you all a helping start...

1. Start with basic items, incorporate your own sense of style, your personality will hopefully shine through your outfit.  I guess for me I'm not a girlie girl, or a total tomboy; I love to mix it up. My style has definitely changed since I was a 'tween' in highschool; wearing plain tops, denim shorts, basic jeans & dresses... All thanks to a thing called the INTERNET!

2. Grab some inspiration from anywhere; especially looking through fashion magazines, blogs, celebrities or what people you see everyday are wearing. Don't try to be someone/wear something you don't necessarily like, make it your own.
  • Mix and match patterns
  •  Layer your outfit
  •  Don't be afraid of adding colour to your wardrobe
  •  Be bold and out there!
  •  Accessorize girl
  • Keep it classy
My essential pieces:
  • Jeans - boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans
  • Playsuits/Jumpsuits
  • Singlets
  • "Baggy" tees
  • Oversized jumpers
  • Shorts - denim, patterned, bright, black "classy ones"
  • Black dresses
  • Blouses
  • Wedges/Boots
  • Flats
  • Skirts - short or long flowy
  • Maxi dresses
I love that I can accessorize these key pieces with scarfs, jewellery and touch of makeup on my facey...

Keep it Safe
Don't fret, if you are new to make up, (or don't need it, because you are blessed with amazing skin) then just maybe add a touch of nude lippy or something, just to make it a little bit special...
Throw on a basic tee, jeans/shorts/skirt/maxi skirt then layer it up with necklace/s + heels or bangles + earings + heels.

 Black Dress
Why not layer your little/long black dress (who knows, you might not want to show leg) with less jewellery (keep the dress simple) or statement heels (bold patterns, bright colours).
Unless you'd like to dress it down and keep it casual, pair your black dress with an oversized cardigan and flats.

Jeans
Must have item!
It keeps an outfit casual or classic
Fits all body types
Pair with high boots/heels
Match a basic tee (baggy or fitted)
To know if jeans will fit - always try them on, whilst in the fitting room, do squats & lunges, this will help to stretch the fabric and will make them fit better.
BIG TIP - make sure the button and zipper is done all the way up AND you can breathe, then you're good to proceed to the check out (hopefully you like them)

 T-shirts
T shirts can pull an item together
They are an go-to item, incase you decided there is nothing to wear
Matches with jeans, skirts, shorts etc

Black Heels
Paired with anything
Appropriate (if the heel is less than 5 inches) for meetings
Must have (I don't necessarily wear these everyday, but I have them as a go-to thing)

Blazers
Must have item!
Different colours & patterns on the inside/cuffs
Makes an outfit classy

Maxi Dresses
Casual
Dramatic - patterns & colours
Go-to item

Sweaters/Jumpers/Cardigans/Jackets
Casual & Cute
So Comfortable
Classy

Basically what I'm trying to say is mess around with your wardrobe, you don't need to go out and buy expensive clothing to look fabulous, (maybe a few pieces, here and there) but you need to be wise and think do I really need these things, or will they sit at the back of my closet...

I'm hoping this kind of helped one of you ladies out there, trying to find a new sense of style and how to own it!

Winter can be a drag

Basically where I live, winter can be a pain in the bottom, especially when I am used to the sunlight beaming onto my skin (although the weather can be bipolar, no matter what season it is, the sun is bound to appear). So I thought to make a list of what to have/wear this season (it's winter in Australia by the way)...

What are some must have/staple items for winter?
  • Disco pants
  • Patterned items
  • Boyfriend jeans
  • Skinny jeans
  • Chai Latte's
  • Military jackets/pants
  • Leggings
  • Leather jackets
  • Sunscreen (the sun can still burn you, even if it's gloomy outside)
  • Acid-wash jeans
  • Converse
  • Varsity jackets and shirts (if you're into them)
  • Baggy tee's
  • Oversized sweaters
  • Knee-high boots
  • Scarfs
  • Ripped jeans
  • Faux fur jackets/vests
  • Gum boots
  • Denim jacket
  • Ankle booties
  • Crop tops
  • Dresses
  • Heels/Wedges
  • Beanies
  • Cardigans
  • Maxidresses
  • Fluro tops/heels/pants (why dull your sparkle)
  • Moisturizer! Moisturizer! Moisturizer!

So I hope all of you will be comfortable, stylish and keeping warm this winter!

Don't you worry child, see heavens got a plan for you

"Fear always presents itself much bigger than it really is. It’s always the worst-case scenario. It always tries to get you worried, anxious, uptight and panicked. Fear’s goal is to separate you from God by trying to get you to doubt His Word. But when the spirit of fear comes, recognize that it has no power unless you give it power. Don’t give it power by speaking what fear speaks. Don’t give it power by meditating on it. Instead, let the power of the Word of God rise up within you. Declare what God says; declare that God has given you all authority in heaven and earth. Declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

Remember, no matter how big fear presents itself, it’s no match for the power of Almighty God. When you yield yourself to Him, you tap into His power. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. God is bigger than your problems and bigger than fear. Let faith rise up in your heart because faith is the victory that overcomes the world."

"No matter how you may be feeling right now, no matter who’s approval you didn’t get on this earth, know that Almighty God loves you and approves of you today. There’s nothing you can do now or ever to change that. You may be thinking, “I’ve made so many mistakes, how can God approve of me?” Understand that when God sees you, He separates you from your behavior. He may not approve of your actions all the time, but He desires to help you grow and make better choices."

I love this, I love how God is always there for each and everyone of us. It doesn't matter how little your problem is, cast your burdens onto Jesus, and let God take care of you, for you are a child of God; with him nothing is impossible!!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I come to You in faith declaring that I am finished with fear. Thank You for giving me a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. Fill me with Your peace and joy today as I worship You and move forward in Your victory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I hope you all will have a great sunday and a blessed week ahead!

PS: These quotes I used are from http://spiritualinspiration.tumblr.com/ (When I hop onto tumblr, I love checking out there page, as they have so much insight to what God is trying to do and I can turn to it, whenever for a deeper meaning).
Also I'm not trying to shove any beliefs down anyone's throat, I just thought to release a message.

NEW IN - Beauty & Boots

So this May I thought to step out from my comfort zone and try a few different products I wasn't to sure about.

These two boots are comfortable and not too pricey.  I love them. I needed to mix up my shoe collection as I have too many black wedges... I didn't have to go to too much trouble finding these low cut boots; surprisingly I found them at Valleygirl. (which I didn't think they'd have such awesome shoes!)

Brown boots were about $15 or something - it was on $ALE!

These wicked black beauties were about $25 (rough estimate)

Alright, so one day I was feeling not too fabulous, so I went to Priceline and asked an assistant for help, for a foundation that is lightweight, won;t cause my skin to have breakouts, if I wore it alot & isn't too oily... She gladly pointed out that Natio is a great brand, for all the above; as Natio is a plant based beauty and skin care range, which is designed for everyday usage. (Which won't have any nasty impact to our skin. Yay!) I highly recommend this product - you can take it anywhere and it won't break as the bottle is plastic not glass!
Natio is the easily accessible, plant based beauty care range specifically designed for a contemporary lifestyle. - See more at: http://www.natio.com.au/company#sthash.AEO8qj32.dpuf

I also was persuaded to buy an eyebrow kit for $4.95 plus was given a free makeup/nail kit, which I thought was awesome!

Natio Pure Mineral Foundation - $19.95

Revlon ColorStay Aqua - $35.89 (Worth it!)
This mineral foundation is fantastic! Instead of using a liquid consistency, use a mineral foundation that has bursts of coconut water blended in, which will hydrate your skin whilst looking flawless.
  • SPF 13
  • lightweight powder
  • not oily
  • hydrating

I've had this product for about 3 months now and it is my favourite face wash/scrub/mask (Yes 3 in 1 - how amazing is that!) I love this product because I don't have to use anything else with my daily cleansing routine; just use this twice daily with a toner and always moisturize!
If you have sensitive skin, you shouldn't use this product as it might cause burning sensation, inflammation and redness - So basically use their sensitive skin care products! :)

I've never tried this product before, but thought to give it a try since I was running out of my other organic face lotion (Pure Organic Aloe Vera daily face & body milk lotion). This is great if you like to keep it all natural and don't want to pay a ridiculous amount just to hydrate you skin... Sukin has a scent but not that it is overpowering - it's a mineral scent, which smells amazing.

I definitely needed to find a red lippy, as I thought to be bold and just buy one. Lets face it, everyone needs a red lippy someday! Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is seriously the best, as it is a long lasting lipbalm with a hint of peppermint (but not so strong that you could taste it - if that makes sense) and this range has so many vibrant colours to choose from! Definitely something you'd want to invest in.

Flowerbomb perfume by Viktor & Rolf

I've heard so much about this perfume, that I went out and bought the 30ml (received a small travel set for free) to see for myself if it's as great as people say it is - I am so glad I did, this smells so lovely, with hints of rose orchid, jasmine, freesia & tea. It's totally worth buying!

So there you have it!
I know I have been slack with my blog posts but hopefully, I'll stop being lazy and get stuck into my blog. Let me know in the comments below what'd you want to see next.

WHAT TO WEAR: Outfit Inspiration

Hey guys,
Just posting a selection of outfits hoping to inspire your personal taste and begin making the most of your wardrobe!

 Enjoy!

What's your flavaa' tell me what's your flavaa'

I love vibrant colours, neon colours are always in fashion; instead of wearing all black go out and find something bright (top, skirt, jumper, pants or shorts). A pop of colour really does *make* an outfit. Adding colour to your wardrobe will surely boost your confidence which will make a statement that you are bold, bubbly and absolutely stunning!

Keeping it safe

If colour is not your forte then surely everyone will have a monochrome outfit, hiding in their wardrobes. Black and white is a safe choice for wearing 24/7. Job interviews, to clubs, to dinner or just to kick back with your girlfriends on a casual Sunday. To style a sophisticated outfit just add some jewellery and your good to go!

No need to be so uptight

These outfits are perfect for a casual day in summer autumn spring and even winter, (where I live winter doesn't get so cold like Europe) just have a jumper ready.

 Make an escape

These next few outfits are lovely to take when travelling to your favourite holiday destination, or just a very chilled catchup with the boyfriend or girlfriends. (Mmm I could go for a chai latte right about now!)

Disclaimer: I do not own any of these photos! Just being an inspriation to all.

Love Kathy
