What I received for Christmas 2016

I wanted to share with you what I received for Christmas this year - with no intention to brag / show off. I like seeing what people receive and thought I might give it a go this year.

I had no idea what I would like to receive this Christmas because just after my trip to New York with my sister I had to get straight into work mode and in a blink of an eye it was already December and with December Christmas was fast approaching. You see my dilemma.  So I put a little list together of a few items I would like to receive and gave it to my family... I didn't expect to receive much of these items, regardless I am so soooo grateful to my family and friends who have given me these gifts!

1. GIFTCARDS- Definitely a good idea come Boxing Day!!

2. LUSH BATH BOMBS ( Candy Mountain & Granny takes a Dip ) - they smell amazing!

3. TANYA BAKES BOOK - I've wanted this book since Tanya mentioned she had one coming out, cannot wait to create those recipes

4. 'You're my Cup of Tea'  FROM KMART- super cute! (funny that I wanted to get myself this when I saw it in the store whilst I was hunting for other Christmas presents)

5. 2017 'TYPO' CALENDAR -  you get to save a % off on Typo's items each new month - yes please!

6. LITTLE MIX CONCERT TICKETS!!! I am beyond thankful that my sister and I get to go see Little Mix - she knows me too well :)

7. MECCA - a gift card  that I can buy whatever I want without touching my bank account, oh and lotion

Let me know in the comments below what did you receive for Christmas?
Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy new year!!

Few things I learnt from New York City

Just a few things I have learnt from my holiday in New York City, the big apple, the concrete jungle or the city that never sleeps (truly it doesn't).

1. TIPPING

So if you haven't heard about tipping in America then I don't know where you've been, but I can tell you after talking to locals it isn't so necessary as you think, although you should definitely tip if they were helpful service to you.  Keep in mind, I travelled with my sister so we split tipping each day and paying for different meals a day (it's the best thing about travelling with your family).

Where we tipped:

Transport services - transfer to and from the hotel/ airport
Room cleaning - when we head out for our day we left a tip from $2-5 but this varied different days (we stayed their for 14days & we left the tip with a note)
Dining out - this is straight forward, on the bottom of the receipt it has the "tip gratuity" on it, some places are 15%-18% of your bill. Give what you will, this is just a suggestion depending where you dine at.
Tour guides - You sure do, it's up to you maybe $10 maybe more/ less it's up to you.

2. ATMOSPHERE

The city is busy (obviously)  but you can find everything so conveniently, walk down the street and find a Sephora, Forever 21 and iconic locations!
Central Park is so beautiful anytime of the day - although we didn't venture out in the night time (because duh, us two Aussies got 'lost' in the daytime, let alone night time - have you seen Home Alone...)
3. TRANSPORT

We took our first Taxi (yellow cab) probably after the 1st week being there. I was a bit hesitant just because we didn't know the way around properly, they could definitely take us the long way around and charge us a lot more than what we should... Luckily it wasn't a long trip.
We didn't take Subways (as it was our first 'solo' overseas trip and didn't want to get lost on a very public train... maybe next time)
Definitely make use of Uber whenever you get the chance!
a) Cheaper
b) Friendly
c) Much nicer than public transport

4. FOOD
Ridiculous amounts of food that costs less than what you get!
You can find healthy options if you really look for it.
Definitely try Shake Shack - not an everyday meal but it tastes pretty good as a cheat meal
Hands down the best place to go eat & feel full to the max, is Olive Garden in Times Square! The customer service is A+ and the food is delicious!

5. LOCALS
Honestly if you get lost, there is always someone to talk to. If you need directions talk to a local or go into a restaurant or hotel I'm sure there is someone who is willing to help - we needed to get our clothes cleaned and we definitely didn't want to pay almost a hundred for the cleaning service at our hotel, one day towards the end of our trip we were eating our breakfast and a local lady sat next to us (we got to talking) long story short she was super lovely and managed to help us find a local dry cleaning/ laundromat AND IT ONLY COST US $20 for a big bag of clothing (seriously Thankful to that lady who we got to know on a personal level - so refreshing)

The Uber drivers are super friendly, helpful! We took about 6 drives with Uber and every time we felt safe and got to know on another level

I really enjoyed my time in New York City as it was very different atmosphere, eye opening, and inspiring! I can definitely see myself going back there in the future :)

Let me know in the comments below if you would like to visit New York or if you have been there what do you enjoy most about New York City!

Kathy x

Few Songs to Keep Uplifted

Ever heard a song that places a drop of hope in your heart that sends a sense of peace, reassurance and love through your body, a drop that makes you feel calm no matter what is happening around you.. On the way home this afternoon I was playing my worship music and singing to it like no one was watching me (of course it was late in the evening, no way you could see me unless you were directly at my window - you get the picture).

It's when you turn on your worship music zone out but tune into His presence. I wanted to list a few inspirational songs, to get you along the week.

Boost your confidence with Fashion

If you're making these mistakes, it's time to reevaluate the way you think about how you wear your clothes, what's your personal style, what brands fit and cater to your particular size. Fashion should give you confidence, it should make you feel great inside and out.

I have made a list below what you should and shouldn't do because it's quite easy to use these tips to cater to your everyday wardrobe.

SELF CONFIDENCE IS THE BEST OUTFIT, ROCK IT AND OWN IT!

1. Don't ever leave the house with a piece of clothing you don't feel comfortable in and you don't feel 100 percent in. I always use this, if in doubt, go without! ALWAYS. Life's too short to wear that item that you don't like, life's short to work at a job you don't enjoy or eat those foods you just absolutely hate. If you don't feel comfortable the that particular outfit, simply don't wear it because chances are you will either pick at that certain thing and it'll just ruin your mood/day.

2. It's so important to tailor to your size/fit. Hem your dresses or skirts to the length that fits your body and definitely find a pair of jeans that suits your body type perfectly, tailoring can be your best friend. Not all clothing brands will cater to your body shape so always be on the look out for brands that will boost your confidence.

April Favourites

Was it just me, or did April just flew by... I wanted to post an April favourites for you as I haven't posted one in what feels like a very long time. Maybe it's because I get side tracked or mostly because I reuse most of the favourite items throughout the following month and so on.

But today I wanted to share with you what I've been loving this past April. Let me know in the comments below what you have been loving this past month because I'd love to know.

The first few items are Tv shows/ series which some go hand in hand and the others are bit different. If you haven't checked out these shows I recommend you do, they are pretty awesome depending what you enjoy watching but so far my family and I are hooked. Oh the titles of them are The Flash and Arrow. They are both equally awesome to watch, Arrow was produced before The Flash and main characters tend to frequently crossover between the shows as they have the same writers. I don't want to go into too much detail but check out the trailers to know more!

A movie that my family and I saw which was pretty good which was My Big Fat Greek Wedding it was pretty hilarious with a slice of drama and of course filled with love/ caring for one another as you do as a family. I'd love to know if you've seen this, what'd you think?

Favourite stores to shop at recently have been Seed, Nine West, Forever New and of course Witchery.
Two of these I'm sure of you can find them outside of Australia but they all deliver to the rest of the world just check their Delivery/ International Shipping. These brands are perfect to find the up to date pieces that will last throughout the seasons or more, with reasonable prices.

My last favourite would be something to read. This book has been my all time favourite book which is actually 3 books in one. It's by Karen Kingsbury whom is an American Christian novelist and the way she writes is just incredible. She keeps you wanting more. The book was titled Forever Faithful which is spilt up into 3 books Waiting for Morning, A moment of Weakness and Halfway to Forever. I'm currently reading through A moment of Weakness and it is so good I can hardly put it down until my eyes start to close (I usually read it before bed as it's better way to sleep without a screen in your face). The first two books are quiet different from one another probably the first one was more of a teary one compared to the one I'm currently reading. After this book, I am definitely going to buy another one or two of her books! I'd love to know what books are you currently reading or if you have read one of her books before?

Tune in next month as I want to keep posting my monthly favourites on my blog or my Youtube channel.

Love,
Kathy

Simple Everyday Makeup

Hello beautiful people!

I wanted to show you how I do my everyday makeup! It's simple and natural which is great as I have oily/ combination skin so I don't like to use so much products on my face. You can always change up the Dior Lip Glow for a natural lipstick and a nude liner but hey, this is what I do.

Product details are listed on the video description box. I don't usually do beauty videos as I am in no way an expert but let me know what you think, in the comments below or on my YouTube channel.

PS. What is something you cannot live without, beauty related.

Giving Heart

One afternoon I was laying by the beach front when I felt that I needed to spend time and refocus where my mind was taking me. So I opened up a few podcasts and I found two that had been helpful, it was talking about giving, not just your money but giving to others, what your mind focuses on, give your time to other people, to be selfless. In that releases a positive attitude to anything you put your mind to, it keeps you humble, gives you that great feeling that you have accomplished something for someone else.

Instead of running around with different thoughts in my head, I stopped and listened that this message is for me. God works in His timing and when you take the time to zone in on Him everything will appear more clearly and in His favour. God listens to your woes and your prayers but He works all good things to those who love Him.

"One time Jesus was with His disciples in a boat out on the water when they encountered a great storm. The disciples were very afraid, but Jesus on the other hand, was fast asleep. When the disciples woke Him to see if He could help them, Jesus got up and simply spoke to the storm, “Peace! Be still” and the seas were calm again.

When difficult times come, you don’t have to be overwhelmed by the waves of worry or fear. Just as Jesus stood up and spoke to the storm, you have power in your words, too. The Bible says that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in every believer. He’s given you His authority to declare peace over your home, over your mind, and over your family. Remember, no matter what storms may come against you, the Greater One lives on the inside of you! Speak to your storms and walk in peace all the days of your life!"

I hope that whatever you are going through this week or the following few weeks I pray that you will have the mindset of 'what can I do for others' instead of focusing on your needs and your troubles. God sees your trials and He will pull your through it because He loves you and He gave his one and only son to the cross to die for you and your sins.

Love,
Kathy

My Essentials for Summer

Summer has come and gone and as sad as that is, I cannot wait for Winter to arrive. But as I embrace the new season so do I farewell the past season that was Summer!

I've put together a few of my favourite items that I adored in Summer and wherever you are in the world right now whether you are approaching the warmer months or welcoming the cooler ones, I am sure these items are undeniably an essential.

WHAT TO WEAR: University or College Lookbook

Back to University for the first week. Whether your heading back to uni or starting at uni for the first time there would be some challenges but an outfit can improve your mood either way. This is why I put together some outfits that would get you through the week. The stigma of being a university/ college student is the typical "too broke to spend this" or "2 minute noodles for days". These are self-explanatory and I hope you get some inspiration, although this is a guide, you can always adapt these outfits to how you normally dress and what season you are in. Let's get on with the first week of outfits!

Monday Morning

This playsuit is a perfect outfit to start off the week with a bang! You don't have to worry about what top would go with those shorts/ pants or vice versa. Playsuits are hands down the most comfiest solution.

Oh don't forget your glasses! I love these so much, the colour and shape is super chic.

Wardrobe Change

Ever stare at your wardrobe/ closet and you can find absolutely nothing to wear? Yeah I've been there too. But the solution isn't to go shopping for that special top that would compliment your favourite pair of jeans. You need to declutter your wardrobe as soon as possible. I indeed shutter at the thought of decluttering my wardrobe as you never know when you need 'that item'...  I am definitely in the process of decluttering my wardrobe and it has put myself in a better mindset to attend other jobs with a positive mindset. You can also declutter other things in your room if you wish - do you really need multiple items of foundation when you haven't opened the 2nd bottle... The answer to that is right in this post.

Year 2016

Good morning and Happy New Year beautiful people! So the new year is upon us and time to roll out the new resolutions to stick to... or attempt to. Personally I don't tend on giving up chocolate or a treat  meal once so often but I do have a way of not putting so much 'pressure' out there as realistically after a few weeks into the year you/me/we are bound to slip up. We're human so that is okay, we keep changing, but keep moving forward to a better path. Let my faith lead the way.

2016 won't be much of a difference from 2015, besides constantly being myself. Caring less what people think about me (which is quite an insecurity I have for a while now and doesn't help that I get anxious when I am in a room filled with a lot of people but it's a work in progress) focus on things that make me filled with happiness. I want to express what I am passionate about, to be creative with my content and have more adventures within my home country and internationally. Do not let others define how you live your life, it isn't up to them that you should deal with, it's all down to you.

I just want to wish you all the best for this new year, wherever you are I know it will be a great year!

Side note:
Lord I lift up those today who are facing depression, anxiety, self harm and suicidal thoughts. God I pray that your love will overflow within them and show them how beautiful they are. Let your strong hands hold them up Lord, show them there is a greater plan for their life.
